R. H. Hartell Dies

Thursday Morning

 

R. H. (Dick) Hartell, 69, Hallam, died early Thursday morning, June 24, 1976, at his home in Hallam. He was the husband of the former Marjorie E. Runyan of the Barada area.

 

Mr. Hartell was born January 23, 1907, at Billings, Montana, and moved to Mascotah, Kansas, when he was small and to Cortland in 1969. Mr. Hartell was a correctional officer at the penitentiary until he retired and moved to Hallam in 1973.

 

He married Marjorie E. Runyan on June 28, 1928, at Hiawatha, Kansas. Mrs. Hartell died January 15, 1973.

 

Surviving are a son, Richard L. Hartell, Hallam; two daughters, Mrs. Harlan (Beverly) Rademacher, Johnson, and Mrs. Maynard (Donna) Behrends, Auburn; a brother, David Hartell, Coquille, Oregon; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Saturday at the Casey-Witzenburg Mortuary Chapel in Auburn. Burial will be in the Harris Cemetery at Barada.

Mrs. Hartell, 60

Dies at Cortland

 

Mrs. Richard (Marjorie) Hartell, 60, Cortland, died Monday, January 16, 1973, at Cortland. She was a former county resident.

 

Mrs. Hartell was born at Humboldt, April 22, 1912, a daughter of the late Robert Runyan and Nellie (Bacon) Runyan. She grew up in the Barada area and attended the Barada schools.

 

June 28, 1928, she was married at Hiawatha to Mr. Hartell. The couple lived most of their married life at Auburn and for a time operated a motel at Brownville before moving to Cortland about four years ago.

 

Besides her husband, Mrs. Hartell is survived by a son, Richard L. Hartell, Hallam; two daughters, Mrs. Harlan (Beverly) Rademacher, Johnson, and Mrs. Maynard (Donna) Behrends, Auburn; two brothers, Don Runyan, Falls City, and Carroll Runyan, Reserve; a sister, Mrs. Darrell (Helen) Currie, Winslow, Arizona, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Hartell will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the Casey-Witzenburg chapel in Auburn, conducted by the Rev. Ward Merritt of Humboldt. Burial will be in the Harris cemetery at Barada. The body of Mrs. Hartell is at the Casey-Witzenburg Funeral
