KATHRINA BARBARA KRAFT

OBITUARY

Kathrina Barbara Kraft, nee Gock, was born at Nassau in Württemberg, Germany, December 19, 1861. Her parents were Michael Glock and Eva Margaretha, nee Schmieg. Shortly after her birth she was hospitalized and as she grew older and had the required religious instruction she was confirmed the 18th of April, 1875. Her confirmation text being the 7th and 8th verse of the 121st Psalm, “The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil, He shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy going in from this time forth and even for evermore.”

In her 27th year, she with her youngest sister, Mrs. Leo Fink, emigrated to North America, coming to Phillips county, Kansas in April 1888. On May 16th of the same year she was united in marriage to Leonhard Miller, with whom she lived happily until the 17th of December, 1894 when he was taken from her by death. To this union was born one daughter who died at birth.

Four years after the death of her first husband, she entered a second marriage with John Krafft who survives her. To them two sons were born but only one of them lived nine days.

After enjoying many years of good health, the last several years she was sadly afflicted with a disease that worked slowly but surely. At last dropsy set in and she departed this life 4:30 in the morning of November 23, 1927, at her home Northeast of Logan, where she had resided since coming to America. Besides her husband she leaves to mourn her death three sisters: Mrs. George Schiller, Mrs. Charles Novak and Mrs. Leo Fink, one brother, John Glock in Germany, and also a number of nephews and nieces. May she rest in peace.

Funeral services were conducted at the home, and afterwards her body was tenderly laid away to await the resurrection day, in the Lutheran cemetery, services were held in the church. Rev. Schaff, pastor of the church officiating.
