ROSE/CLYDE - Mrs. Winifred A. Barnes, 83, of 3876
Galen Road, died peacefully Thursday (June 1, 2006)

at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital with her family

at her side.


Family and friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. Sunday (June 4) at the Baris Funeral Home,

87 W. Genesee St., Clyde. Funeral services

will be at 10 a.m. Monday (June 5) at the funeral home, with the Rev. Marcia King, pastor of the Rose United Methodist Church, officiating.


Mrs. Barnes was born Aug. 13, 1922, in Virgil, Cortland
County, the daughter of Alfred and Ocie (Shively) Hoy. She
moved to the Rose-Clyde area in 1948. Winifred had been
a school teacher in the area for many years, retiring from
the North Rose-Wolcott Central School District. Winnie was
active in many community organizations, including serving
as past regent of the Colonel William Prescott Chapter of
the Daughters of the American Revolution, past matron of
the Order of Eastern Stars in both Clyde and Wolcott, past
president of the Rose Oasis and member of the Rose
Historical Society. She also was active in the Wayne County
Historical Society and the Wayne County Retired Teachers
Association. She was also a member of the Rose United
Methodist Church.


She is survived by her husband, Robert of Clyde, whom
she married Nov. 17, 1945; her daughter, Judy (Harry)
Schwarz of Geneva; her son, Jerome Barnes of Ft.
Lauderdale, Florida;  grandchildren, Jeffrey and Sarah
D'Amico of Geneva; brother, Daniel (Jane) Hoy of
Rochester; sister, Eva (Jess) Haelen of Rochester;
sister-in-law, Mrs. Lillian Fisher of Thompson, Ohio; and
several nieces and nephews.

 

Memorial contributions to the Rose Volunteer Ambulance
Corps or to the Rose United Methodist Church would be
appreciated. Burial will follow in Rose Cemetery.
