Obituary

ENOS Loucks

 

Enos Loucks, 77, a well-known and respected citizen of Wakarusa,

passed away at 8:15 Tuesday morning at the home

of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.

George Loucks, at Goshen, after a week’s illness of complications.

He was bedfast only several days.

 

Mr. Loucks was born southwest of town in St. Joseph county,

on June 18, 1863, the son of William and Martha Ann Loucks.

On March 31, 1889, he was united in marriage to Eliza Jane Bleile

who preceded him in death on April 26, 1939.  He and Mrs. Loucks lived

on farms in this vicinity before moving to Wakarusa about 15 years ago.

 

He is survived by three sons, Harvey of near Goshen, John of east of town,

and George of Goshen; four daughters, Mrs. Henry (Ida) Lechlitner

 and Mrs. Henry (Pearl) Morningstar of near Goshen,

 Mrs. William (Mary) Holdeman of Elkhart;

Mrs. Agnes Herrington of Goshen;

21 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, and four sisters, Mrs. David

Hygema, Mrs. Jeremiah Wise and Mrs. Clara Abbiel of Nappanee

and Mrs. John Eversole of Granger.

 

            Funeral services will be held at the home this Thursday afternoon at

1:30 and at the Yellow Creek Church of the Brethren of which he was a

member, at 2:00, Rev. H. A. Claybaugh will officiate. Burial in the

Yellow Creek Cemetery.

Obituary

Eliza Jane Loucks

 

 

Mrs. Eliza Jane Loucks, 69, wife of Enos Loucks, died last week Wednesday

night at her home here after a four-year illness of diabetes and Bright’s disease.

.  She had  been confined to her bed for the past five weeks.

 

She was born in St. Joseph county, May 25, 1870, the daughter of

Jacob and Mary Bleile.  Her marriage to Mr. Loucks took place March 21, 1889,

They have lived in Wakarusa most of their life.

 

.              Surviving besides her husband are seven children,

Mrs. Henry (Ida) Lechlitner of Goshen,

and John Loucks of Wakarusa,

Mrs. Henry (Pearl) Morningstar of Goshen,

 Mrs. William (Mary) Holdeman of Elkhart,

George Loucks and Mrs. Agnes Herrington of Goshen; a sister,

 Mrs. George Truex of Wakarusa; four brothers, Lewis and Isaac Bleile of

Wyatt, John Bleile of South Bend and Isaiah Bleile of Argos.

 

She was a member of the Yellow Creek Church of the Brethren for

34 year. A short prayer service was held Saturday at 1:30 p.m., at the

home followed by services at 2 p. m. at the Yellow Creek church. 

The Rev. H. A. Claybaugh, as sited by the Rev. Christ Metzler officiated.

Burial in the Yellow Creek Cemetery.
