Lucy A. Colson

Lucy A. Colson, 98, of Pawnee City, Nebraska, passed away January 27, 1981, reroute to a hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. who died September 6, 1947.

Mrs. Colson was born September 27, 1887 at Branson, Missouri, the daughter of Jasper Franklin and Laura Combs. She received her education and grew up in Missouri.

She confessed her faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized in Oklahoma in 1907, later uniting with the Christian Church in Pawnee City. She was a loving wife and mother, good neighbor and had many friends.

On December 16, 1908, she was married to Walter H. Colson and to this union seven children were born. Elmer, Mrs. Elvis A. Johnson, (Virginia) and Nellie Johnson of Pawnee City. Walter of Loveland, Colorado, Mrs. Joe Thiellen (Alyce)

of Portland, Indiana, Mrs. Melvin Morrison (Venna Ruth) of Longview, Washington, and Mrs. Raymond Morrison (Wanda) of Kalama, Washington.

There are 34 grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren and 27 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends.  

Funeral services were held Friday, January 30, 1981 at 2:00 p.m. at Wharry Brothers Mortuary, Pawnee City, with Rev. William Nollman officiating.

Pallbearers were Jim Hall, Lloyd Stepits, Charles Cary, Raymond Colson, Keith Staley and Richard Freeman.

Music was furnished by Mrs. Byford Metzger and Mrs. Richard Turnbull, duet,

with "Blessed Assurance" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" as the songs being chosen.

Interment was at the Pawnee City, Cemetery, Pawnee City, Nebraska.
