Paul Herman Gobber

 

Paul Herman Gobber, son of Dietrich F. and Wilhelmine (Koppelmann) Gobber, was born July 27, 1903 at Diller, one of seven children. He was baptized in infancy in the family church. When he was about three, the family moved to Nemaha County.
He received his education in the public schools of Nemaha County, and grew to young manhood in this same community. He attended St. James Lutheran church and received his confirmation there on August 31, 1919 by Reverend E. F. Geyer.
On May 24, 1928 Paul was united in marriage with Helen W. Bohling at St. Paul (Hickory Grove) Lutheran church. To this union four children were born.
After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Gobber settled on a farm a few miles east of Elk Creek. They lived there until May of this year when they moved into Johnson. Mr. Gobber held offices on the school board and also on the church council.
About two years ago Mr. Gobber's health began to fail. He entered the Nemaha County Hospital December 8, where he passed away December 11, 1966. He had reached the age of 63 years, four months and 14 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by one sister.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; four children; Arnold Paul Gobber of Elk Creek, Evelyn Joan Gobber of Alexandria, Virginia, Mrs. Roger Broady of Auburn, and Mrs. Duane Wendelin of Lincoln; one daughter-in-law; Orva Jean; two sons-in-law, Five brothers and sisters, Mrs. Edwin Ottemann of Johnson, Fred H. Gobber of Table Rock, Mrs. Orvin Volker of Elk Creek, Otto F. Gobber of Elk Creek and Mrs. Alvin Oestmann of Elk Creek; four grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held December 14 at St. James Lutheran Church, conducted by Rev. Carl O. Carlson. Carolyn Burow was organist.
Pall bears were Dean Volker, Ervin Gobber, Robert Gobber, John Lunzmann, Arnold Ottemann and LaVern Oestmann. Mr. and Mrs. Erhard Oestmann were in charge of flowers. Burial was in the church cemetery.
