Huey was born May 10, 1864 near Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and had reached the age of 68 years, 5 months and 28 days.  In 1881, Mr. Huey settled in Nemaha county and had lived here since that time. Obituary

Accident Proved Fatal To

 William McCormick

Was Injured when Struck

by Freight Train

Accident Occurred in  Missouri Pacific Yards Last Week

and Was Followed By Amputation of Left Arm

Death Came Suddenly

William McCormick died Monday night, from the effect of the injuries sustained when he was struck and run over by a freight train in the Missouri Pacific yards last Wednesday morning. He had been down to the river to look after some night lines he had set out and was returning with the fish he had caught. In passing through the yards he did not notice a train that was backing and was struck and knocked down, several cars passing over him.

He was badly bruised and his left arm so severely mangled that amputation was necessary. Mr. McCormick was past 69 years of age, but despite this fact he stood the shock well and his recovery was expected. He continued to gain strength until Monday night when his heart suddenly became effected and he died before medical aid could reach him.

William McCormick was born in Virginia, July 17, 1848, and passed away in Auburn at the age of 69 years and six days. On January 8, 1876, he was married to Miss Jennie Maxie, who preceded him in death several years ago. He came to Nebraska about thirty years ago, and located at Glenrock where he continued to live until a few months ago, when he

moved to Auburn. During his long residence here Mr. McCormick made many friends all of whom regretted to learn of the accident that had befallen him and who were surprised and pained to learn of his death.

The deceased is survived by the following children: Mrs. Victoria Huey of near Brownville, Mrs. O. Barnard of Glenrock, Mrs. Sallie Gillespie of Hastings, and William McCormick and Mrs. Currant Crumm of Auburn.

These children have the sincere sympathy of friends in the hour of their bereavement.

The funeral was held on Wednesday and the services were conducted by Reverend Roy E. Deadman in the presence of a large gathering of friends and neighbors. At the conclusion of the services the remains were interred in Sheridan cemetery.
