The entertainment for the evening, was provided by a group of approximately 36 people,
known as the "Sunnyside Serenader's". They are residents of the Sunnyside Mobile Home Court on the West side of Zephyrhills, on Route 54.
Their talents provided both chorus and band. Soloist and leader of the chorus is
Mrs. Adolphe Drapeau, with two additional soloists, Alma Lareen and Dorothy Pierce.
Leader of the band is Mrs. Ruth Whitcome.
I can't recall all the beautiful carols and other songs rendered, but a few of the more
memorable ones were "Working on the Railroad", with appropriate train whistles., and
Mr. Hoy, the newest member of the group, who is blind and has one arm lame,
Whistled, "Listen to the Mocking Bird", and I felt all choked up
when everyone stood for a standing ovation.
One of the other gentlemen sang, "Bicycle Built for Two" (Sorry again that
I didn't get his name) but it was fun to watch and hear him.
The final number was "Silent Night", in which we all joined. The band's instruments
were washtubs, bazookas, castanets, etc.
What joy you brought to the evening, you dear people.
We hope you will come again and again.
Coffee and cookies were then served, and then as Merle Giles said,
it was "Adios, Aurevoir and Ariverderci".
