Obituary

Homer L. Combs

Homer L. Combs, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Combs was born

January 15, 1875 at Peru and passed away at the Tushia Hospital,

Auburn, Thursday, October 30, 1958, at the age of 83 years,

nine months and ten days.

 

On August 10, 1898 he was married to Della Ninceheiser and

they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in August.

 

He was in the government mail service for 35 yeas before retiring.

 

He is survived by his wife, Della, and three children, Pearl Steiner

of Burchard; Chester of Lemon Grove, California; and Lawrence

of Peru. A daughter, Bessie Munsell, preceded him in death.

 

He also leaves a sister, Dora, of Cortez, Colorado, and two brothers,

Elmer of Arcadia and Neal of Hastings, nine grandchildren and

five great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

 

Funeral services were held on Sunday, November 2, 1958, at

3 p.m., at the May and Timm Funeral Home in Auburn with

Rev. Ward Merritt, officiating.

 

Pallbearers were Eldon Ninceheiser, Harold Ninceheiser,

Merlin Ninceheiser, Everett Heywood and Glen Moody.

 

Interment was in Sheridan cemetery with May and Timm in

charge of arrangements.

 

Relatives from out of town who came to attend the funeral were;

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Adcock of Kearney; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer

Adcock and Nadine of Milford; Mr. and Mrs. Neal Combs and

Robert Brommer of Hastings; Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Combs of

St. Joseph, Missouri; Mrs. Ralph Ramond of Falls City;

Mrs. Harry Bunge and Mr. and Mrs. Byford Cameron of

Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fletcher and son of Beatrice.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Adcock, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Ninceheliser,

Mrs. and Mrs. Bill Henderson, all from Brock; Mr. and Mrs. Frank

Heywood and daughter, Ida May, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ninceheiser,

Mr. and Mrs. Everett Heywood, all from Peru; Mr. Robert Heywood

and daughter, Mrs. Adams from Summerfield, Kansas; and Mr.

and Mrs. John Burger from Greeley, Colorado.

DELLA D. COMBS

 

Della D. Combs was born at Auburn on June 20, 1879, the daughter of Absolum and Ida Bergler Nincehelser. She grew up on the farm seven miles north of Auburn, where she attended Center school.  On August 10, 1898, she was united in marriage to Homer L. Combs.
After their marriage they farmed for a time in the Auburn vicinity. Mr. and Mrs. Combs then moved into Auburn 60 years ago when Mr. Combs entered the mail service.

Homer passed away October 30, 1958.  Mrs. Combs was a member of the Methodist church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star for many years.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, two sisters and one daughter. Mrs. Combs passed away on March 28, 1969 at the age of 89 years, nine months and eight days.
Those left to mourn her passing are two sons, Chester Combs of Lemon Grove, California, and Lawrence Combs of Peru; one daughter, Mrs. Pearl Steiner of Auburn; three brothers, Ed and Ray Nincehelser of Nebraska City and George Nincehelser of Auburn; one sister, Mrs. John Moody of Auburn; ten grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held March 31 at the May and Timm chapel, conducted by Reverend Gordon Patterson. Mrs. Vernon Strole was soloist and Mrs. Kenneth Andrew was organist.
Pallbearers were Glen Moody, Harold Adcock, Everett Heywood, Lloyd Nincehelser, Harold Nincehelser and Merlin Nincehelser. Mrs. Everett Heywood and Mrs. Merlin Nincehelser were in charge of flowers. Burial was in Sheridan cemetery.
