The second child of Christian Eltiste & Maria Dorthea Risselhuber was Anna Maria, born February 2, 1846. Her friends and relatives knew her as “Mary”. During her younger years, she was married on July 5, 1876 at Saint Peters Church, Elk Creek, Pawnee County, Nebraska to a gentleman by the name of Heinrich "Henry" Storant/Storandt. This union was soon dissolved and there are many family stories surrounding that marriage. Mary then moved to Phillips County, Kansas. Her sister, Christina Pauline, went with her. Together, they purchased a farm. They were both members of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Family members warned the girls, when they left Nemaha County, Nebraska, that they would “Starve to death in Kansas, and that they would return to Nemaha County.” Mary was quoted as saying; “We will eat grasshoppers before we come back to Nebraska.” Mary and her sister, Christina were very successful on their farm in Kansas. Mary departed this life on November 1, 1931 and was buried in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery near Stuttgart.
