Obituary - Eltiste

Christine Pauline Eltiste a daughter of Christian Eltiste

and his wife, Dorothea nee Risselhubber,

was born September. 21, 1858 at Burgsalach bie Weißenburg

in Bayern, Germany. A few days old she was consecrated

to the Lord in holy baptism.
In 1872 Christine Eltiste came to America together with her
parents. The family lived first in Nebraska City, Nebraska. Here Christine was Confirmed to Holy Communion
In 1894 she came to Phillips County, Kansas, where she resided unto the end of her days Together with her sister she lived on a farm northeast of Stuttgart Her mother also lived with them until her demise.
After the death of her sister Anna in 1931, her sister,

Mrs. Katharina Kaiser stayed with her for a number of years. For the last 15 years Christine Eltiste lived
all by herself, preferring it this way, the Henry Kaiser family looking after her bodily needs. Her Bible, sermon book,

prayer book, and the Kirchenblatt were the only companions she cared for, during these years of loneliness.

She saw others pass away, much younger than herself,
and was often wondering why the Lord did

not call her home, too.
After a long waiting the Lord heard her prayer.

About a, week ago, she sought her bed because swollen feet made it impossible for her to walk. Even, now she
thought that she could be alone by herself and would send the relatives home who had come to attend to her,

Christine Eltiste was one of the oldest member of

 Emmanuel Lutheran church.
On Monday evening, December 17, 1945, about five o'clock

the Lord called her to her eternal reward at the ripe

old age of 87 years one month, and 26 days.
She leaves to mourn her passing one brother, August Eltiste
9 nephews, and 10 nieces, and many other relatives,
Interment was made on the Cemetery of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Stuttgart, Thursday,
December 20, with the Scholz Funeral Home in charge.
May she rest in peace.
