Alwina Kellerman

Alwina Margaretha Barbara Emma Merklein Kellerman daughter of Charlie and Margaretha Mueller Merklein, was born on a farm South of Stuttgart in Phillips County August 2, 1906, and departed this life at the Phillips County Hospital, Phillipsburg on March 14, 1988, at the age of 81.

Alwina grew to womanhood in the Stuttgart vicinity and was known for her yard and garden work and for her baking abilities. She lived in Stuttgart until ill health forced her to become a resident of the Long Term Care Unit of the Phillips County Hospital at Phillipsburg were she resided

 until her last illness and death.

Alwina was baptized into the Christian faith on August 26, 1906, and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on May 30, 1920, both at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Stuttgart. She was a life-long member of the church.

On November 30, 1927, Alwina was united in marriage with Paul Kellerman at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Stuttgart. They made their home in Stuttgart where Paul worked in the automobile service station. To this union four sons, Orville, Norman, Dale and Maynard, were born.

She leaves to mourn her passing three sons and their wives: Norman and Lois Kellerman, Stuttgart, Dale and Pat Kellerman, Holton, Maynard and Gloria Kellerman, Beatrice, Nebraska; eight grandchildren; four sisters: Anna Dahlke, Lillian Meyer, Selma Zillinger, all of Phillipsburg, and Margaret Jackson, Logan; many cousins and many, many friends.

Memorial services were held Wednesday afternoon, March 16, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Stuttgart, with the Rev. Duane Levin officiating. Hymns were sung by the congregation

 with Marene Levin as organist.

Casket bearers were Lonnie, Timothy, Daniel, Troy and Willis Kellerman, and James Zillinger. Interment was in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Stuttgart, to await the resurrection.

Norman L. Kellerman

Lifelong Stuttgart resident, Norman L. Kellerman, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2012 at the Phillips County Hospital in Phillipsburg, Kansas at the age of 79. He was born September 17, 1932 to Paul & Alwina (Merklein) Kellerman. He owned & operated Norm’s Service Station in Stuttgart for many years

Survivors include his wife, Lois, of the home; sons, Lonnie of Stockton, KS, Tim of Richmond, Missourr and Dan of Lawrence, Kansas; daughter, Tammy Stecklein of Hays, Kansas; one brother, Maynard, of Beatrice, Nebraska; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 21, at 10:30 a.m. in the Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Stuttgart, Kansas with Pastor Shelly Klingensmith officiating. Burial will follow in the Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sat. and Sun. from noon – 9 p.m. at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with the family receiving friends Sun. evening from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Dale Kellerman

 

Dale Marvin Kellerman, 72, Holton, died Thursday, July 19, 2007, at a Topeka hospital. He was born Aug. 27, 1934, in Stuttgart, the son of Paul and Alwina Merklein Kellerman. He graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1952 and from Fort Hays State University in 1956 with a business administration degree. Mr. Kellerman lived in Great Bend prior to moving to Holton in 1959. He entered the insurance industry with Jim Parmiter in 1963. The company was known as Parmiter-Kellerman Insurance. He later partnered with H.J. Hershey at Kellerman-Hershey Insurance Agency. He eventually owned Kellerman Insurance Inc. and Kellerman Real Estate Inc. with his daughter Cindy. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Holton, where he served as an elder and as congregational chairman. He was a member of the Holton Rotary Club, where he served as past president and received the Paul Harris Fellowship Award, and a long-time member of the Holton Country Club, where he was past president and board member. He had been a volunteer for the Holton Fire Department and belonged to the Kansas Association of Insurance Agents and Realtors. He was a member of Kappa Sigma at FHSU. He married Pat Peacock on June 8, 1956, in Great Bend. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Cindy Hower and husband Roger, Holton; two brothers, Norman Kellerman and wife Lois, Stuttgart, and Maynard Kellerman and wife Gloria, Beatrice, Neb.; and a granddaughter, Lauren Hower, Holton. He was preceded in death by a brother, Orville Kellerman. Funeral services were held July 23 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Holton. Interment was in Holton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, sent in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
