Mrs. W. R. Tinsman

She was a pioneer. There are a bunch of boys and girls to testify that she was the loyal wife of Mr. Wingert and the splendid mother.

There are those of the pioneers who remember her faithfulness as the wife of Mr. Mills.

A few years after her marriage to Mr. Tinsman she had a slight stroke of paralysis, and tho partly recovered has been on the sick list for several years.

Her death was announced shortly after 7 o'clock Monday.

Verlonia Augusta Hilliker was born at New York City, New York, July 3, 1855. Her parents remained there until the spring of 1864 when they moved to Beatrice, Nebraska. In the year of 1876, she returned to Bucyrus, Ohio, where she was united in marriage to G. L. Wingert, July 25, 1876. To this union were born 7 children, Oda M. Cross, Irven S. S. Wingert, Bert E., deceased, Arthur L., Ercie H., Effie B. Houston and Cynthia V. Wempen. In the year of 1889 they moved to Lancaster, County, Nebraska. She then made her home with the children until October 14, 1919, when she was united in marriage to W. R. Tinsman. They made their home in Sumner, Nebraska. She began her Christian experience as a girl uniting first with the Methodist church soon after their marriage she, with her husband, united with the disciple church. After coming to Nebraska they united with the Evangelical church this being the most convenient church home when she was left a widow and was living with her children near Sumner and after her marriage with Mr. Tinsman, united with the Baptist church, this being her church home. Failing health has kept from the church service in recent years and confined her closely to her home in Sumner, Nebraska. She departed this life August 19, 1929, at the age of 74 years, 1 month and 16 days. She leaves to mourn her death, her husband, 6 children, 31 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

I may not know the reason why

Dark clouds so often veil the sky;

But tho my sea be smooth or rough

The Lord knows why, and that's enough.

I may not know why I am led

So often in the paths I dread,

But trusting him, I'll pass my way,

The Lord knows why I will obey.

I may not know why death should come

To take the dear one's from my home,

But tho mine eye's with tears be dim,

The Lord knows why, I'll trust in him.

So tho I may not understand

The leading of my Father's hand,

I know to all, he has the key,

He understands each mystery.

Chas H. Gabariel
