William Wallenberg

FAIRFIELD - William August Wallenberg, 79, of Fairfield died

Wednesday in the Veteran's Hospital at Grand Island.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in McLaughlin Funeral Home

Chapel at Clay Center with the Rev. Donald H. Burkum officiating.

Burial will be in the Fairfield Cemetery with military rites by

American Legion Post 256 of Fairfield.

Mr. Wallenberg was born April 1, 1906, at Phillipsburg, Kansas.

He lived in the Fairfield and Deweese areas for many years

and was employed as a railroad track maintenance worker

for the Union Pacific Railroad until retiring in 1969. He was

employed as manager of the Fairfield Legion Club for several

years and had been a patient at the Veteran's Hospital for the

past nine years.

He was a World War II veteran and a member of American '

Legion Post 256 at Fairfield.

Surviving are his brother, George of Fairfield; and three sisters,

Mrs. Wesley (Vera) Shunkwiler of Fairfield, Mrs. Roy (Alvina)

Shaw of Edgar, and Mrs. Glenn (Avis) Woods of Lincoln.
