Funeral of Vera Johnson Held Monday
Albion Woman Passed Away at Her Home on December 4 After Long Illness
Funeral services for Mrs. Vera Johnson were held at the Christian church Monday afternoon and interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery. Vera Carter, daughter of Joshua and Chloe Carter, were born in York county, Nebraska, July 14, 1890, and died at her home in Albion, December 4, 1945, after a long illness, at the age of 55 years, four months and 20 days. She moved to Boone county with her parents in 1901 and attended school in Albion. She was baptized in 1904 and became a member of the Church of Christ. She was married to Fred McQueen in 1911 and to this union one son was born, Dale Norman, now of Pawnee City. In 1915 she was united in marriage to Samuel Austin Johnson and to this union were born ten children: Mrs. Florence Loveland of Denver, Roy (Jack) of Eureka, California, Sgt. James of the Marines, Leland, Ralph, Kathryn, Richard, Mary and Don of Albion. Also surviving are ten grandchildren. One daughter, Ruth, died in infancy. Her husband preceded her in death in 1938. Besides her immediate family she leaves to mourn her death these brothers and sisters: Roy Carter of Shelby, Mrs. Ella Brown of Albion, Ray Carter of Eureka, California, Mrs. Bernice Farrow of Grand Island, Bernal Carter of Lincoln and many friends and neighbors.
