Obituary
Mrs. Herman C. Bohling
Mary Christine Bohling, daughter of Frederick and Anna Bohling, was born in Nemaha county, August 31, 1892, one of seven children. She was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran church (Hickory Grove) by Pastor Theodore Streng and confirmed by Reverend Streng, April 14, 1907. She received her schooling in the London school. February 19, 1914, she was married to Herman C. Bohling at the Hickory Grove church. Six children were born in this marriage. They lived on a farm southwest of Johnson until 1956 when they moved to Johnson. After her marriage, Mrs. Bohling joined the Martin Luther church. She was a charter member of Martin Luther Women. She entered the Tecumseh Hospital on February 23. On March 27, she was moved to the Tecumseh Care Center, where she passed away March 28, 1973. She had reached the age of 80 years, six months and 28 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister. She is survived by her husband, Herman C. Bohling of Johnson; six children; Mrs. Louis Speckmann of Johnson, Emil of Elk Creek, Mrs. Arthur Meyer of Johnson, Alvin W., of Johnson, Leland of Fremont, and Eldon of Johnson. Also by 26 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Oestmann and Mrs. Augusta Bohling, both of the Maple Grove Home near Tecumseh; other relatives, and many friends. Funeral services were held March 31 at Martin Luther church, conducted by Reverend Richard Fruehling. Music was by the church choir, with Mrs. Bruce Davis as organist. Pallbearers were grandsons; Ronald Meyer, Allan Bohling, Randy Bohling, Larry Bohling, Darwin Bohling and Loren Speckmann. Granddaughters were in charge of flowers; Carol Meyer, Debra Bohling, Kathie Bohling, LuAnn Bohling, Ramona Bohling and Mrs. James Havel. Burial was in the church cemetery.
