Edward Fink

Edward John Fink Sr., son of Leonard and Barbara Fink was born on

June 8, 1903 at Logan, Kansas. He was presented to the Lord as an infant for holy baptism. Edward was united in holy wedlock to Martha Huskey

on April 22, 1931, at the Wolf Creek Lutheran Church,

and to this union was born five sons and two daughters.

 

Edward, known to everyone as "Ed" started at the age of 18, as a blacksmith at his father's farm near Logan. From there he had a shop

 in Speed for two years. The Family moved to Kensington, where

he opened his own shop. Then in 1949, he moved to Agra, and

 has resided in this community since that time.

 

He passed away at the Hadley Memorial Hospital, Hays,

June 24, 1983, after a brief illness.

 At the time of his death he was 80 years and 16 days of age.

 

Ed and Martha celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary

 on April 22, 1983.

 

He is survived by his wife Martha, five sons: Edward Jr., and his wife, Dorothy, Lewis and wife Carolyn, Agra, Robert, McPherson,

Leonard and wife, Wanda, Kensington, and Ralph and wife, Sheila, Phillipsburg; two daughters: Irene (Mrs. Tom Tucker), Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Betty (Mrs. Arthur Davis), Anna, Illinois;

16 grandchildren and four step-grandchildren;

two sisters: Eva (Mrs. Herman Kaiser), Prairie View and

 Marie (Mrs. Bill Boethin), Logan; a host of relatives and friends.

Ed will be deeply missed by his family and a multitude of friends.

 

 May his spirit have joy and fulfillment in the Lord.

 

Memorial services were held Tuesday, June 28, at 10:30 a. m.

 in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel with Carl Rodgers officiating.

 Special music was provided by Opal Scanlan and Virginia Munyon.

Casket bearers were Dan Losey, Glenn Dennis, Wilbur Chaddock,

Max Schick, Calvin Boethin and Wilbur Boethin.

 Interment was in the Agra Cemetery.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation for the love and concern shown us at the time of the loss of our loved one. The cards, flowers, memorial contributions, food brought in and other thoughtful deeds brought much comfort and helped make our sorrow easier to bear.

Mariam Fink

Mariam Magdalena (Martha) Huskey Fink, daughter of Lody and Johanna Mary Jakubowski Huskey, was born June 26, 1910 in Prairie View

and died October 25, 1994 in Prairie Haven Nursing Center, Kensington

 at the age of 84.

She attended Whitehall #80 elementary school.

On April 22, 1931 she was united in marriage to Edward Fink Sr., at the Wolf Creek Lutheran Church, Logan and to this union seven children were born.

They lived on a farm near Prairie View then moved to Speed. In 1936 they moved to Kensington. In 1947 they moved to Agra where she resided until March of 1991 when she entered Prairie Haven.

Martha was a member of the Lutheran Church. She was a homemaker; was janitor of the bank, church and elevator and did laundry. She loved gardening and raised chickens. One of her enjoyable pastimes was embroidery.

Survivors include her five sons: Edward Jr., and wife, Dorothy, Agra: Robert, McPherson: Leonard and wife, Wanda, Kensington: Lewis and wife, Carolyn, Loveland, Colorado: and Ralph and wife, Sheila, Phillipsburg: two daughters: Irene Green, Enid, Oklahoma and Betty and husband, Art Davis, Anna, Illinois: one brother, Joe Huskey, both of Phillipsburg; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Fink, Logan; 16 grandchildren: Diana, Randy, Shelly, Tammy, Charlene, Brian, Peggy Sue, Lori Ann, Gary, Terry, Becky, Sonya, Stacy, Lonnie, Aimee and Lisa and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 29 at 10:00 a.m. in the

Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel with Pastor Joel Hiesterman officiating.

Van Bradley, soloist sang "One Day At A Time", "How Great Thou Art" and "When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder" accompanied by JoAnn Rust.

Casket bearers were: Gary, Terry, Brian and Lonnie Fink, Jeff Solida, Brad Ifland, Gary Foreman and Shane Kinter.

Interment was in the Agra Cemetery, Agra.

Arrangements were handled by Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel.
