Herman Kaiser

Herman Henry Paul Kaiser, son of Henry and Anna Catherine Eltiste Kaiser, was born in Mound Township, Phillips County, Kansas, on February 5, 1893 and departed this life at Stuttgart, Kansas on December 18, 1979, having attained the age of 86 years, 10 months and 13 days.

Herman grew to manhood in the Stuttgart vicinity and farmed until his retirement.

On February 26, 1893, Herman was baptized into the Christian faith at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Stuttgart, Kansas, and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on April 8, 1906, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. He was a faithful member of the Emmanuel Lutheran congregation his entire life.

He was united in marriage with Eva Fink on January 23, 1918, at the home of Eva's parents. To this union three children were born.

Herman was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and six brothers.

He leaves to mourn his passing his widow, Eva of the home in Stuttgart; two sons: Erwin and his wife, Clara, and Harold and his wife, Lucinda, Phillipsburg; a daughter, Erma, and her husband, Gerritt Jansonius, Prairie View; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Stuttgart, Kansas, Saturday, December 22, with the Rev. Duane Levin officiating. Hymns were sung by Alvin Veeh and Norman Merklein and by the congregation with Mrs. Marene Levin as organist.

Casket bearers were Harold Dusin, Ehrhart Merklein, Charlie Long, Norman Kellerman, Virgil Ehm and Arlin Bohl.

Burial was in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Stuttgart, Kansas to await the resurrection.

Eva Marie Kaiser

Eva Marie Kaiser, died Wednesday, September 23, 1992, at the Phillips County Retirement Center at the age of 95. She was born Eva Marie Fink to Leonard and Barbara (Glock) Fink on October 27, 1896, on the family farm in the Pleasant Hill neighborhood northeast of Logan in Phillips County. Here she grew to womanhood and attended the Pleasant Hill School.

On January 23, 1918, she was united  in marriage to Herman Kaiser at her parents home. After their marriage, they moved to the Kaiser family farm east of Stuttgart. To this union three children were born: Erwin, Harold and Erma.

Eva was baptized and confirmed in the St. Peter's Lutheran Church, and after marriage transferred her membership to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church where she was a faithful member until entering the nursing home in June 1985.

She is survived by her sons: Erwin, and wife, Clara, and Harold and wife, Lucinda, both of rural Phillipsburg; her daughter, Erma Jansonius, and husband, Gerrit, of rural Phillipsburg; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; two sister-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral was held in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church on Saturday, September 27 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Gerald Buss officiating.

Musical selections included "Children of the Heavenly Father", "Rock of Ages" and
"Abide With Me" , all of which the congregation sang, accompanied by Phyllis Merklein.

Casket bearers were Gary Satter, Robert Hanson, Ehrhart Merklein, Shane Kinter, Gary Jansonius and Ronald Jansonius.

Interment was in Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Stuttgart.

Handling arrangements was Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel.

CARD OF THANKS

We wish to express our sincere appreciation for the many expressions of sympathy shown our family at the time of the death of our mother and grandmother. The cards, calls, memorial contributions, flowers and all other kindnesses will long be remembered. Thank you also to the church women for our lunch the day of the funeral.
